However, minor situations may occur such as burning of an area that is left too long under the system. Diabetic patients who undergo this kind of therapy should also have their insulin levels monitored during the treatments.
No prescriptions are required for the Healthlight infrared light therapy system for personal purchase or even for use in a treatment facility. But clinics that offer the infrared light therapy, requires prescription if the purchase needs to be reimbursed through the client’s health plan for private insurance. Medicare, however, does not cover or approve the code for the Infrared Heating Pad for home treatments, but most other insurance companies do follow the policy.
