Reiki – The Hands Approach to Healing
from:Although Reiki appears to some to "mystical", it's actually not all that complex. Reiki is about utilizing what we all have, but aren't aware of or even use. You may have doubts about Reiki, and that is fine. However, try it anyway. It won't hurt you, and you might be surprised at the results. Here's some food for thought. People who have surgery and use Reiki in their recovery process, tend to heal faster. Reiki is a tool best used in conjunction with other healing modalities, like remedial massage.
The word Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese kanji for universal life-force energy and is a holistic, light-touch, energy-based modality. It is known to be simple and yet able to produce measurable results. Reiki – the flow of energy through the body – re-establishes a normal flow of ki, which is your life-force energy. This life-force energy once activated and used enhances and accelerates your body's healing abilities.
How does Reiki get administered? Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body just inside the energy field. The practitioner channels (through their hands) a flow of energy into your body. Your body then takes the energy it needs.
What happens during a session? The client, fully clothed, lies on the treatment table. The practitioner's hands assume a stationary position, lightly on or slightly above the body through several positions from head to toe and from front to back. There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. This is not a massage.
Many people have reported feeling cold, pulsating heat, or a tingling sensation during a session. It is different for each person. Reiki is not any more magical than any other modality or allopathic medicine. Healing takes commitment and takes time - one moment at a time.
The reiki energy works with all other forms of therapy. It's a wonderful holistic compliment to other treatments. The energy goes to exactly where it is needed which means the person giving you the treatment does not diagnose or prescribe anything.
When you start receiving treatments, ideally three or four are good over a period of ten to fourteen days. This should remove entrenched energy blocks from your system. Once this has been done, you should be able to have a session once a week or every two weeks. Will you notice any improvement after the first session? In most cases yes, but in some no – it depends on how deeply entrenched your energy block is. You may feel nothing the first day or so, but will notice some differences a few days later. Disease generally begins in the energy field so if we keep our physical bodies healthy with good nutrition and exercise, we should be able to stay in sync with our energy as a whole.
